IndyCar – Power on pole at Mid-Ohio

Will Power won his 5th pole of the season in IndyCar at the Honda Indy 500 Mid-Ohio. The Team Penske driver completed a lap in 1'04''172, beating his teammate Josef Newgarden by more than a tenth and thus signed his 3rd pole on the American circuit and the 49th qualifying victory of his career in the discipline.

Team Penske placed a third car in the Fast Six with Helio Castroneves, double winner at Mid-Ohio in 2000 and 2001, having taken 5th position behind Takuma Sato and Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing).

simon pagenaud, winner last year at Mid-Ohio, had to settle for 7th position by failing at the gates of the last qualifying session 4 hundredths behind Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing). The Championship leader will start just in front of the reigning champion.

Esteban Gutiérrez (Dale Coyne Racing), Sébastien's replacement Bourdais, achieved his best result in IndyCar qualifying with a 12th position on the grid.

The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio will be broadcast this Sunday, July 30 on Canal+ Sport from 23 p.m.
