Danica Patrick: “Not on the razor’s edge”

It's the end of an era. After a successful first career in IndyCar, followed by a highly publicized arrival in Nascar, Danica Patrick ended his motorsport history last Sunday after an accident during the Indianapolis 500, for his last race.

Lined up at the wheel of the No. 12 DW13 of Ed Carpenter Racing – Chevrolet, the Wisconsin native wanted to end her career at the legendary IndyCar Series event, accompanied by her historic sponsor GoDaddy.

Qualified 7th, the former driver Stewart-Haas Racing in Nascar was unable to pass the 68th lap mark. “It was unexpected, but on the other hand the car was spinning more than I wanted, comments Danica Patrick.

Turn 2 seemed more “on the edge” than the other turns, but I can't say that at that moment I was on the razor's edge or that I felt I was there. It spun around as soon as I hit the throttle, I felt a bit of understeer mid-corner.

I wasn't expecting that at all, but I think it shows that these cars are difficult to drive. All pilots are good pilots. This definitely wasn't the way I wanted to end, of course.

I wouldn't want to end any year like this, but since it was my last race, it's definitely going to be a lot worse. I've had some good times here this month. I won't forget this. »

The Ed Carpenter Racing team was however able to achieve a good result at the finish with second place for boss-driver Ed Carpenter, who started from pole position.
