Indy 500 – Bourdais starts 25th, Alesi brings up the rear

Sébastien Bourdais and Katherine Legge had very little time to prepare for qualifying for the Indianapolis 500, with Dragon Racing having separated at the last moment from engine manufacturer Lotus to switch to Chevrolet. The two competitors were unable to achieve a miracle and were forced to go through Bump Day to qualify. The Frenchman did well by setting the best time of the session with an average speed of 223,760 mph while his British teammate took 30th place. The driver of the #12 DW7 will start alongside Wade Cunningham (AJ Foyt Entreprises), whileOriol Servia (Dreyer & Reinbold Racing) completes the ninth row after hitting the wall the day before.

The Spaniard was not the only victim of a crash during Pole Day since Ed carpenter (Ed Carpenter Racing) and Bryan Clauson (Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing) also hit the wall. The first will start from 28th row in front Mike conway (AJ Foyt Entreprises) while his compatriot will be content with 31st place. The final row is completed by Simona de Silvestro (HVM Racing) and Jean Alesi (Fan Force United), who only qualified at an average speed of 210,094mph.
