IndyCar – Bourdais wins in Detroit

Sébastien Bourdais (KVSH Racing) scored its first victory of the season by winning Race 1 of theIndyCar in Detoit, Michigan. The four-time Champ Car champion moved into the leading group before making a quick stop ten laps from the finish allowing him to take the advantage over the Penske drivers Helio Castroneves et simon pagenaud.

Adopting the same strategy as the winner, Conor Daly (Dale Coyne Racing) finished in second place while Juan Pablo Montoya (Team Penske) completed the podium ahead of Helio Castroneves and Carlos Munoz (Andretti Autosport). Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport), the winner of the 100th edition of the Indianapolis 500, completed the top ten behind Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport), Charlie Kimball and Tony Kanaan (Chip Ganassi Racing).

Pole sitter Simon Pagenaud was forced to return to the pits one last time and had to settle for 13th place. Le Poitevin maintains a lead of 59 points over his new direct opponent Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) having retired with an electrical problem.

IndyCar Race 2 in Detroit will be contested this Sunday, June 5.
