IndyCar – Coletti, Valsecchi and Gonzalez in testing with SPM

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports will field a new crew in 2015 with the departure of simon pagenaud for Team Penske and the non-renewal of Mikhail Aleshin. To accompany James hinchcliffe, SPM will test several drivers from GP2 during tests organized on December 16 and 17 at Sebring International Raceway. Stefano Coletti, Rodolfo Gonzalez and 2012 champion Davide Valsecchi will be there with the hope of making a difference.

Davide Valsecchi perhaps has the most interesting track record, having been a test driver and reserve driver for Lotus F1 Team last year. But the Italian's presence on the track has been much more sporadic over the last two seasons. “I will look to give the best test possible to show my skills as a driver. I hope to do a good job because I know it’s a top team. L'IndyCar seems to be the best competition in the world and I would love to participate. There are always many overtakes, which makes the races exciting. I can't wait to test drive one of these cars. »

Stefano Coletti has the advantage of having concluded a season in sixth place in the GP2 Series, even if it is his fourth consecutive year in the discipline. “I’ve wanted to go to the USA to run for a long time,” admitted the 25-year-old Monegasque. “I had already packed my bags in 2008 and was almost there. It didn't work because I had already signed a contract (in F3 Euro Series, 20th of the season) and my management preferred that I stay a little longer in Europe. I have always dreamed of driving these big single-seaters and studying their behavior. I followed the IndyCar races on TV and it's a hell of a spectacle. You can't experience something like the Indy 500 in Europe. »

Rodolfo Gonzalez will also have arguments to put forward since the Venezuelan has tested in F1 with Marussia, Caterham or Force India. The driver who notably competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Murphy Prototypes this year will certainly be the most comfortable sincehe has already participated in a test session with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports in September with Rocky Moran Jr and Gabby Chaves in Miami-Homestead (Florida).

SPM will share the Sebring track with Bryan Herta Autosport and Chip Ganassi Racing. BHA will field Gabby Chaves, the reigning Indy Lights champion, and Daniel de Jong also from GP2. Ganassi will introduce its regular drivers Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Charlie Kimball and its test driver Sage Karam, 2013 champion of the second category of IndyCar.
