IndyCar – Conway on pole for Race 2 in Detroit

Mike Conway was the fastest of the two IndyCar qualifying groups at Detroit. The Dale Coyne Racing driver will start on pole ahead of James Jakes. Simon Pagenaud is sixth.

IndyCar – Conway on pole for Race 2 in Detroit

Qualifying for Race 2 of theIndyCar in Detroit have seen Mike conway take pole while the Briton is only registered as wilcard this weekend replacing Ana Beatriz. After setting the third fastest time in the first qualifying sessions, the Dale Coyne Racing driver set the best time of the two groups with a lap completed in 1'18"0977. James Jakes (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) will start alongside him after failing by almost a tenth. The second row will be completed by Will Power (Team Penske) and Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport), while E.J Viso (Andretti Autosport) will complete the top five after starting from pole of the first race of the weekend.

simon pagenaud (Schmidt Motorsports) put in a great performance, taking sixth position on the grid ahead of Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Justin Wilson (Dale Coyne Racing). Dario Franchitti (Ganassi Racing), the fastest during the first session held in soggy conditions, was further back and only started from 16th place. Tristan Vautier (Schmidt Motorsports) will start from 20th place behind Tony Kanaan (KV Racing Technology), last winner at the Indy 500. Sébastien Bourdais (Dragon Racing) only qualified in 22nd position.
