IndyCar – Dixon executioner of Team Penske at Road America

Scott Dixon took his first victory of the season in IndyCar by beating the Team Penske quartet at Road America (Wisconsin). The Chip Ganassi Racing driver, who scored his 41st success in the discipline, took the advantage at the restart given around mid-race after Takuma Sato (Andretti Autosport) went off the track, taking advantage of his soft tires against Josef Newgarden.

The driver of the #12 DW12-Chevrolet kept the pressure on Scott Dixon until the finish, giving up only half a second. Helio Castroneves completed the podium in front of his teammate simon pagenaud. Will Power placed fourth car of Team Penske in the top five.

Charlie Kimball took 6th place ahead of Ed Jones, Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing), Max Chilton and Mikhail Aleshin (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports) who missed Friday practice due to a visa issue and was replaced by by Robert Wickens. Esteban Gutiérrez (Dale Coyne Racing) took 17th place.

Scott Dixon leaves Road America with a lead increased to 34 points against Simon Pagenaud. Helio Castroneves came back to 3 points behind the reigning champion.
