IndyCar – Ganassi: “Tagliani was a logical choice for us”

Seriously injured in his back during the last round in Houston, Dario Franchitti will give way to Alex Tagliani at Ganassi for the final of the Indycar championship, at Fontana, on October 19.

Victim of a big accident in the last lap of the second race in Houston, Dario Franchitti fractured a vertebra and an ankle and will not be able to compete in the Californian event. Chip Ganassi Racing will, however, have three cars during this closing event of the season. IndyCar 2013: to compensate for this absence and help Scott Dixon win his third title, after 2003 and 2008, Chip Ganassi called on the experienced Quebecer Alex Tagliani. “ The situation is not ideal with the absence of Dario, but we needed an experienced driver who could do the job. Tagliani has always been very solid and competitive on ovals, so he will certainly take this chance to try to get a seat for 2014, while thinking of his friend Franchitti. “ As a pilot, you never want to benefit from an opportunity arising from such circumstances. Before the Fontana final, Scott Dixon has a 25-point lead over his Penske rival, Helio Castroneves.
