IndyCar – James Hinchcliffe is patient

James Hinchcliffe is slowly recovering after his impressive crash during practice for the Indianapolis 500 where a breakage of a mechanical suspension element caused him to lose control of his car. The Schmidt Peterson Motorsport driver had to be rushed to hospital following a serious thigh injury and has since been replaced by Ryan Briscoe and Conor Dalyr at the wheel of the #5.

Despite the violence of the accident, James Hinchcliffe appears to be recovering fairly quickly. But the four-time winner will have to be patient. “My recovery is going better than expected. Every specialist is delighted with my recovery… It is still unknown when I will be able to drive again. There are still a few things to do before everything is in order,” explained the Canadian.

James Hinchcliffe will notably have to undergo a new operation. “I am going to have my abdomen cut open after the emergency operation. It’s just to keep me healthy…”, said the Toronto native. “Doctors think this operation could be done in the next 4 or 6 weeks. I will probably have to wait another 4 to 6 weeks before returning to the gym and intensive training. »

The Schmidt Peterson Motorsports resident is obviously frustrated at not being able to return to competition, especially since he was not responsible for his accident. « There was a one in a million chance that this item would break.…I was really unlucky. Maybe I wouldn't have such a serious injury if the piece had been moved just 5mm...", he lamented.
