IndyCar – Team Penske leads testing at Barber

Team Penske stood out by placing its three cars at the head of the first day of testing at Barber Motorsports Park. Will Power set the best time with a lap completed in 1'07"6492 ahead of Juan-Pablo Montoya, who was the most diligent with 55 laps covered, and Helio Castroneves. Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Takuma Sato (AJ Foyt Racing) complete the top five, while simon pagenaud (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports) placed eighth behind Ryan Briscoe (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Justin Wilson (Dale Coyne Racing).

This day was a real relief for Juan-Pablo Montoya who feared not being able to keep up with his teammates after his time in Nascar. “I’m trying to get more out of the car here,” explains the 1999 CART champion. “It was a good day even if I still need to improve in some places. The weather should improve. We will try to do longer stints while driving a little in traffic because this will be an important point to take into account in St Petersburg (which opens the season next week). »
