IndyCar – Multiple fractures for Sébastien Bourdais

Violently injured yesterday during qualifying for the Indianapolis 500, Sébastien Bourdais suffered multiple fractures to his pelvis and right hip.

IndyCar – Multiple fractures for Sébastien Bourdais

News on the state of health of Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing – Honda) were communicated by his team after his accident yesterday in qualifying for the Indianapolis 500. The Frenchman suffers from several fractures in his pelvis and one in his right hip.

 

 

Le Manceau underwent surgery at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and more information on his condition will be provided later. Dale Coyne, team owner of the four-time Champ Car champion said that « Sébastien is in good hands at IU Health Methodist Hospital with the staff and now we are waiting for him to recover. »

Bourdais was starting his third lap during his attempt at qualifying for the Indianapolis 500, when the #12 DW18 – Honda violently hit the front three-quarter wall at turn #2 before flipping over, and finally finish on its wheels.

“Conscious and alert” (the images also showing that the Frenchman was moving in his cockpit after the immobilization of his car damaged) as quickly indicated by American officials, the winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2016 in GTE Pro was taken care of by medical teams and transported to hospital.
