IndyCar – Newgarden on pole at Sonoma

Josef Newgarden took another step towards the title in qualifying for the Sonoma GP (California). The Championship leader took pole by posting a lap time of 1'15''5205 during Fast Six, ahead of his teammate Will Power by 3 hundredths and gaining one more point in the Championship. The American now has a lead of four points over Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) sixth on the grid, before the start of the season finale IndyCar where the points are doubled. The New Zealander will start behind Takuma Sato (Andretti Autosport).

Team Penske is celebrating since simon pagenaud, another contender for the title, took third position one tenth from the reference by preceding his teammate Helio Castroneves. His compatriot Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing) took tenth position.

The Sonoma GP will be followed live overnight from Sunday to Monday from 0:30 a.m. on Canal+ Sport.
