Josef Newgarden dominated the IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio. The Penske driver takes the lead in the Championship.

IndyCar – Newgarden winner and new leader at Mid-Ohio

After Toronto (Ontario), Josef Newgarden signed his second victory in a row by winning the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio at the end of an event where he dominated his subject with 73 laps spent in the lead out of the 90 of the event.

The American took the lead by overtaking pole sitter Will Power during the 13th loop and reached the finish to claim his 3rd success of the season and the 6th of his career in IndyCar. Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) completed the podium behind the Australian who gave Team Penske the double.

Josef Newgarden leads the Championship by 7 points ahead of his teammate Helio Castroneves, 7th in the race, while the previous leader Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) is 8 points behind after finishing 9th behind Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport).

simon pagenaud (Team Penske) finished in 4th place ahead of Takuma Sato (Andretti Autosport). The winner of the 101st edition of Indy 500 preceded Alexander Red (Andretti Herta Autosport). Esteban Gutiérrez (Dale Coyne Racing) placed penultimate. Teammate Ed Jones interrupted a smooth race by spinning on lap 67 and finished last.
