IndyCar – Pagenaud: “This start to the season is important”

simon pagenaud is the only one with leader Will Power (Team Penske) to have achieved a top five finish during the first two events held in St Petersburg and Long Beach. If the Frenchman is behind the two winners with a delay of six points on Mike conway (Ed Carpenter Racing), the performance of the driver of the #12 DW77-Honda is all the more rewarding than the Schmidt Peterson Hamilton Motorsports is not yet among the biggest teams in the Championship.

After finishing third in the Championship last year with two victories under his belt, Simon Pagenaud is truly focusing on consistency before participating in the Alabama Grand Prix scheduled for April 27. “This start of the season is very important because every point counts at the end of the season”, recalled the Frenchman who completed a test session on April 16 at Texas Motor Speedway. “It’s a dynamic, I want my team to feel this desire to win. This is definitely the case right now. It's really nice to feel cocky enough to watch Penske, Ganassi and Andretti compete. It's never too early to think about the Championship. This is one of the strengths of our team because we have always been good at it. This is our third season together and it’s working well. The mechanics are fantastic, the strategies are incredible and I'm doing great behind the wheel. I think we can claim many victories and we will have to win races anyway to be title contenders. »
