IndyCar – Pagenaud on pole at the Indianapolis GP

simon pagenaud continues the momentum of its excellent start to the season in IndyCar. The current championship leader will start tomorrow night in pole position for the Indianapolis Grand Prix, contested on the road course of the American circuit, the second in a row after the one won in Alabama.

The Team Penske driver dominated the last part of qualifying, the famous Fast 6, getting the better of Charlie Kimball (Chip Ganassi Racing – Chevrolet) with a reference lap completed in 1'08″686. Graham Rahal (Team RLL) achieves the best performance for a car powered by the Honda unit, climbing into third position, 494 thousandths behind Pagenaud.

James Hinchcliffe (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports – Honda), Josef Newgarden (Ed Carpenter Racing – Chevrolet) and Jack Hawksworth (AJ Foyt Enterprises – Honda) complete a top 6 from which we note the absences of the other residents of Team Penske, although clearly in the tempo in free practice and in the first round of qualifying, as evidenced by the track record set in Q1 by Will Power in 1'08″674.

Juan Pablo Montoya will start in 8th position while Will Power, author of an error in Q2, and Helio Castroneves will start from 12th and 15th positions, the Brazilian not having reached Q1. Sébastien Bourdais (KVSH Racing – Chevrolet) will start from tenth position.
