IndyCar – Pagenaud returns to success

Team Penske won a double at Mid-Ohio. The poleman simon pagenaud signed his fourth victory of the season by winning ahead of his teammate Will Power. The Poitevin rider won four seconds ahead of the 2014 champion and thus increased his lead in the Championship with three rounds remaining in the season.

The Frenchman was able to regain the advantage over Mikhail Aleshin (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports) following the yellow flag caused by Jack Hawksworth (AJ Foyt Enterprises) going off the track.

The Russian, who took the lead taking advantage of the race being interrupted by contact between Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Helio Castroneves (Team Penske), fell in the standings after clashing with Josef Newgarden (Ed Carpenter Racing) while cutting off the American in the pits. The driver of the No. 7 only took 17th place while Newgarden was able to salvage a top ten finish.

Carlos Munoz (Andretti Autosport) completes the podium as the first driver powered by Honda. The Colombian moved to the forefront after implementing a strategy similar to Mikhail Aleshin.

Graham Rahal (RLL Racing) and James Hinchcliffe (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports) completed the top five after taking advantage of Takuma Sato and Sébastien's collision Bourdais (KVSH Racing) with three laps to go. The Japanese was able to salvage a ninth place behind Conor Daly (Dale Coyne Racing), Spencer Pigot (Ed Carpenter Racing) and Charlie Kimball (Chip Ganassi Racing), while the four-time Champ Car champion retired.

RC Enerson (Dale Coyne Racing) made a promising debut in IndyCar who were not rewarded since the 2014 USF2000 champion finished in 19th place following mechanical problems.
