IndyCar – Power on pole at Iowa Speedway

Will Power (Team Penske) earned his 4th pole of the season, the 48th of his career, by winning qualifying for the Iowa Corn 300 at Iowa Speedway. The Australian took advantage of his last position in the starting order to have the best conditions and set a time of 34”7541 at the end of the two timed laps.

 

 

JR Hildebrand (Ed Carpenter Racing), who made a mistake during practice, recovered well since he was closest to the reference time with a little more than 2 tenths behind. The American is ahead Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) and Ed Carpenter (Ed Carpenter Racing). Andretti drivers Takuma Sato and Mikhail Aleshin completed the top six ahead of Tony Kanaan (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Ed Jones (Dale Coyne Racing).

simon pagenaud (Team Penske) achieved the 11th time, 8 tenths off the benchmark. Esteban Gutiérrez (Dale Coyne Racing) will start 18th behind Championship leader Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing). Carlos Munoz (AJ Foyt Racing) was unable to complete his qualifying after spinning in turn 2.
