Indycar: 2012 Projects

Dallara, Italian manufacturer which designs and builds the single-seaters used in the GP2 Series, World Series by Renault and Formula 3 Euro Series, looked at the 2012 car development project.Indycar Series. According to the criteria provided by the Indy Racing League, Dallara delivered three different projects (see in photos).

La car 2012 will have to be lighter and more efficient thanks to better downforce and less aerodynamic drag. To counterbalance this optimization, the power of the car will be reduced. In addition, the safety of the designed cars has been improved, with greater resistance to lateral movements and better stability. Overtaking should also be favored, thanks to less disruption of aerodynamics in traffic, while reducing the incidence of contact between two wheels.

The significant reduction in the size of spare parts directly affects the cost, since the operation of the 2012 car is expected to be reduced to 55% of the current cost. This single-seater should be developed in the American premises of Dallara.

« New Indycar car will be built at Speedway, Indiana, confirms Mr. Dallara. It will establish new standards in terms of safety, efficiency, performance and cost control. We can achieve these goals. The Dallara company has been a reliable, credible and loyal partner of the Indy Racing League for twelve years. We are committed to developing this car and supporting it by relocating our production near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. »
