IndyCar – Simon Pagenaud: “Mother nature got the better of us”

After advancing without incident to the second phase of qualifying, simon pagenaud failed to enter the Fast Six, the final stage during which the six fastest drivers compete for pole position. On several occasions, surprised by the rain, the Poitevin veered wide at the first turn, before spinning off and immobilizing his car in the middle of the track, resulting in a red flag.

« Mother nature got the better of us today, said Pagenaud ironically. Our car was really good in qualifying, but during the second phase we didn't manage the tires optimally given the rain that fell at the end of the session. We should have put on the red tires (tender. Editor's note) earlier, it would have helped us. Instead, I struggled to stay on the track when it became wet and I couldn't reach the next stage. The good news is that the car looks really good for Sunday. »

The Team Penske resident is not the only one to have been trapped by the weather. Among the victims, we also find Scott Dixon, who defends the interests of Chip Ganassi Racing, and who will start two rows in front of him.
