IndyCar – A road race in Indianapolis?

Will single-seaters make their return to the Indianapolis road circuit, where the Formula 1 from 2000 to 2007? The track, which has just hosted the World Championship for the last time MotoGP last weekend, could be used as early as September for a test session with several teams from IndyCar Series. The objective: to see if it is possible to organize a new road event, next year in May, in order to launch the festivities in preparation for the biggest event of the season: the Indianapolis 500, which are run, of course, in this same enclosure.

If the September tests are confirmed, both configurations of the track, which has hosted clockwise and counter-clockwise races, could be tested. As a reminder, the road version of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, built for the return of the United States Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2000, takes part of the famous oval before diving inside the latter, where a track was created for the occasion. If the project comes to fruition, it would then be planned to modify the interior part of the circuit, in order to make it “faster and more exciting”. Which wouldn't be luxury!
