IndyCar – Vautier well placed in Texas qualifying, Kimball on pole

Charlie Kimball took pole at Texas Motor Speedway with a time of 46 at 5861 mph. Chip Ganassi Racing monopolized the front row with Scott Dixon failing at 222,556 thousandths. Alexander Red (Andretti Herta Autosport) prevented the leading team from finishing in the top three by beating Tony Kanaan, with Max Chilton taking 6th position.

Tristan Vautier (Dale Coyne Racing) made a brilliant comeback in IndyCar. The replacement for Esteban Gutiérrez (and Sébastien Bourdais) took 5th position, finishing one tenth from the benchmark. His compatriot simon pagenaud (Team Penske) had to settle for 12th place, finishing more than 3 tenths from pole.

Will Power (Team Penske) placed the first Chevrolet-powered DW12 in 9th position ahead of his teammate Helio Castroneves.
