James Hinchcliffe to race three races with Andretti in 2020

Not renewed by McLaren SP this year, the Canadian James hinchcliffe had been looking for a program for several weeks to align in 2020 in IndyCar Series. In the wake of the announcement of a partnership with sponsor Genesys, the probability of seeing the 500 Indy 2016 pole sitter became greater.

A wait finally rewarded for Hinchcliffe, who will contest three races in 2020 with Andretti Autosport, his former team from 2012 to 2014, and with whom he had three successes in 2013.

The Oakville native will be entered in the Indianapolis Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500 but also the Texas 600, on the No. 12 DW29 – Honda. A short program but which could put it back in the spotlight in the event of good performances.

“It’s no secret that the 2020 season won’t be exactly what we expected, but starting the new year with the announcement that Genesys would be stepping in to save our season and partnering with us was awesome, comments the Canadian.

And adding the other big piece of the puzzle, which is my meeting with Andretti Autosport, really makes it feel like the momentum is going our way. I can’t wait to work with this group again and get back behind the wheel of an IndyCar. »

There are therefore six single-seaters which will be incubated by Andretti Autosport at the Indy 500, with, in addition to Hinchcliffe, Alexander Red, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Colton Herta, Marco Andretti and Zach Veach.
