Grosjean's assessment after his first test: "I was not limited in my driving"

How did your discovery ofIndyCar

Alright. Obviously, it's a new car, so I had to adjust my driving position a little, but I quickly felt comfortable. And then I had the joy of discovering driving without power steering and I didn't regret all my hours spent in the gym. I will probably do a little more. On the first laps, my muscles weren't really ready. I didn't know what to expect, but now it's clear.

Have you suffered from your hand?
It was okay, even if it wasn't perfect. I have a big blister on the thumb of my left hand, but I didn't really feel it in the car. I simply avoided taking off my left glove so as not to expose my hand to the sun. I may have also been careful on some corners, but I was not limited in my driving. We did 80 laps today (Tuesday)

What was the program for the day?
We already had to understand the limits of the car, and I paid for that with a spin in the first corner. I arrived simply too quickly. In F1, it would have happened, but not here. But I learned and it won't happen again. Then we tested different settings. Rather than finding the perfect balance, the idea was to understand what happens when you make big changes. Now, we will debrief all of this with the team.

When it comes to times, did you feel competitive?
It's close, in any case, although there were some really fast cars in front. Today the temperatures were cold, but when the atmosphere warmed up mid-afternoon, we achieved some really decent times. Obviously I still have to adapt and understand how to be fast in an IndyCar.

After your years in F1, was finding yourself in a small structure a shock?
We are one of the small teams but the guys are motivated and have experience. I think we can do a very good job with what we have. There may not be many of us but I don't feel any limits on the possibilities of improving the car. I decided to take on this challenge because I am convinced of our potential.
