Leena Gade leaves her position within the SPM

Recruited this winter, the racing engineer Leena Gade leaves Schmidt Peterson Motorsport with immediate effect. The Briton will only have completed five events ofIndyCar alongside the Canadian James Hinchcliffe, not qualified for the Indianapolis 500 (Indiana, May 27).

Triple winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans (Sarthe) with Audi, Leena Gade seems to indicate that her European experience in motorsport (Formula BMW, A1 GP and recently Bentley Motorsport in Blancpain GT Series) did not facilitate her integration into the American team.

“With our different backgrounds, it was like two opposing worlds working towards the creation of a young and dynamic team. In this situation, both worlds did not work well”she explains.

The team indicated that “the relationship was not productive for both parties”, and that she “wish the best for Leena”.
