IndyCar bans aero kits in 2012

La nouvelle car Dallara, which will be used from the 2012 season, cannot be equipped with aerodynamic kits specific to the routes planned on the calendar. The organizers have banned the use of provisional kits in order to reduce development costs for the teams.

Randy Bernard, the president of the discipline, reassures about the performance of the future single-seater. “The most important thing is that we can have a discipline that offers the best interest in the short and long term. It is necessary that we have a competitive single-seater next year while ensuring cost control for our teams. We need to listen to stable owners and help them. »

The president of theIndyCar insists that he fully approves the use of aerodynamic kits but that the new features for next season will be sufficient to interest spectators. “I am the biggest defender of the aerodynamic kit and I think that it will later be the best option for the discipline. The 2012 season will be interesting with the debut of the new car. We will focus on the impact and technological developments of competition between engine manufacturers, notably turbo and direct injection. »
