IndyCar could visit New Orleans (Louisiana) for the first time next year with a race at NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale.

IndyCar eyes New Orleans

THEIndyCar could well welcome a new circuit to its calendar next year. Following an announcement by the Associated Press, the organizers of the discipline confirmed that they were studying the possibility of going to the NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, a new circuit built in 2011 just outside New Orleans for achieve a Louisiana Grand Prix. “We are excited about the prospect of an IndyCar race in New Orleans”, comments Mark Miles, the CEO of Hulman & Company responsible for the discipline, who met Laney Chouest, the owner of the circuit, as well as Governor Bobby Jindal.

The state of Louisiana should inject 4,5 million dollars (3,2 million euros) to expand the infrastructure to host IndyCar. “We are truly grateful to Laney Chouest and her associates at NOLA, as well as the State of Louisiana for their efforts.”, adds Mark Miles. “We are confident that NOLA will meet our requirements in terms of safety, experience and quality of competition. We will continue discussions in hopes of making New Orleans a destination for IndyCar. »

The Associated Press was less reserved in mentioning the date of 2015 for the first appearance of New Orleans in IndyCar.
