Newgarden dominates FP2 marked by Alonso and Rosenqvist accidents

Without exceeding the times and average speeds established in free practice 1, Josef Newgarden (Team Penske – Chevrolet) and Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing – Honda) were the fastest in FP2 of the Indianapolis 500 yesterday.

The 2017 champion of the discipline completed his best lap in 39″326 (at 368,308 km/h average) and is ahead of Dixon by three thousandths.

The alternation between single-seaters powered by Chevy or Honda units is required since Spencer Pigot (Ed Carpenter Racing – Chevrolet) follows in third position at 34 thousandths, ahead of rookie Santino Ferrucci (Dale Coyne Racing – Honda).

Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) completes the top 5 ahead of Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser Sullivan), while simon pagenaud (Team Penske) took 15th place just ahead of Felix Rosenqvist (Chip Ganassi Racing).

The Swede was one of the victims of the day, after making a mistake and hitting the outside wall for the first time, then finishing his race in the inside protections. The former winner of the Macau Grand Prix was examined at the medical center and then released immediately.

Another driver to make a mistake, Fernando Alonso (Mclaren racing), the Spaniard having hit the wall in the first moments of the session. Here again more fear than harm for the resident of the Woking team.
