Newgarden on pole in Detroit

Josef Newgarden (Team Penske) will be able to aim for the double in the streets of Detroit (Michigan) this weekend. The championship leader took Race 2 pole ahead of Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport), the pole sitter in the first race of the weekend who was the fastest in the first group.

With a time of 1'14''8607, the 2017 champion was 3 tenths ahead of the winner of the 100th edition of the Indy 500 after his victory the day before. The Americans are at the forefront since Zach Veach will start from 3rd row ahead of Colton Herta.

On the other hand, the French are a little further behind. Sebastian Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing) will start from the 5th row of the grid while simon pagenaud (Team Penske) will start from the 7th row.

 

 

 

Race 2IndyCar in Detroit will be broadcast from 21:30 p.m. on Canal+ Sport.
