Realistic goals for Dumas at Pikes Peak

The Pikes Peak event having been postponed until next week following the fires that hit Colorado this summer, Romain Dumas had to wait to take on the Cloud Race, the second oldest American event after the Indianapolis 500. . “I've always wanted to do Pikes Peak, I've been talking about it for several years. In reality, my dream was to do this race before it was completely paved. It is one of the legendary motorsport events with duels between Audi and Peugeot which marked my youth. I'm naturally interested in new challenges and Pikes Peak intrigues me on many levels. I try with my team to be as professional and competitive as possible while making the most of it. I love driving but I also enjoy discovering what happens outside the seat, from the preparation of the car and the development of the team. »

For his first participation in Pikes Peak, Romain Dumas chose without hesitation the Porsche 911 GT3 R specially prepared for the famous climb. The car weighing 1200kg will be powered by the Flat 6 Boxer offering a power of 550hp. If the Frenchman is used to competing in rallies with this mount, he will approach the event with humility to better prepare for what comes next. “I always have a recurring theme as a goal: victory. Despite this, I am also realistic and I know that I will be facing very experienced drivers who know the event very well. I also explained that this was not my only participation. I will learn and discover what makes this race legendary. I will gather information so that I can then aim for victory. »
