Pagenaud third at Pocono: “I continue to attack”

The Frenchman would have liked to continue the fight until the end, but the rain decided otherwise. “It’s a shame not to have been able to finish this race, especially since we had a fighter plane,” he wrote on his Twitter account. While first practice and qualifying were rained out, we were able to get in one final practice session. Indeed, the 2016 champion of the discipline made a nice comeback overall. So here he is third, with the second position held by Alexander within reach. Red (Andretti, five points ahead of him). The latter suffered a setback in the first round while being caught in a spectacular pileup.

The current leader, Josef Newgarden (Penske) also conceded some precious points to Simon Pagenaud with a fifth place. “We take this result and I’m already looking forward to the next meeting. I keep attacking”, assures the tricolor, who is only 40 points behind his teammate.

Over the last six races, Simon Pagenaud is the only man in the top 3 not to have finished beyond ninth place. VShis regularity could be essential in the race for the coronation.
