Rossi on pole for the Long Beach GP

Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport) won his second pole in IndyCar after Watkins Glen (New York) last year by winning qualifying for the Long Beach GP (California). The winner of the 100th edition of the Indy 500 set the best time during the Firestone Fast Six with a time of 1'06''5528.

The Team Penske drivers are in ambush with Will Power in second position just over three tenths from pole, followed by his teammate simon pagenaud. Josef Newgarden completed the Top 6 after making light contact with the wall at the exit of turn 8, damaging his left-rear suspension. The winner of the GP in Phoenix (Arizona) will start behind Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Graham Rahal (RLL Racing).

Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing) will start from ninth place, racing between James Hinchcliffe and Robert Wickens. Ryan Hunter-Reay took seventh position by failing at the gates of the last qualifying session after receiving a drive through following one of the mechanics losing control of a wheel during a tire change.

The Long Beach GP will be broadcast live on Canal+ Sport from 22:35 p.m.
