Saint Petersburg shifted to April, Alabama to open the season

Time passes and Covid-19 continues to thwart motorsport plans. If the new campaignIndyCar hasn't started yet, she has already suffered a second hard blow.

A little less than three weeks later the postponement of the Long Beach Grand Prix until the end of the season (September 26 and last race of the year), IndyCar has indicated that the 2021 fiscal year will not start in Saint Petersburg on March 7 as planned after the calendar was announced last October.

The Florida Grand Prix has suffered the consequences of the health crisis. It has been rescheduled to April 25. “ It is not surprising that an event of this magnitude, planned for the beginning of March, is still subject to the evolution of the pandemic, responded Mark Miles, boss of Penske Entertainment Corporation.

We are excited to be able to work with Rick Kriseman's administrative team (mayor of Saint Petersburg) and Green Savoree Racing Promotions in order to find a more appropriate date that allows us to consolidate our start to the season ».

The Alabama Grand Prix will therefore open the 2021 IndyCar season on April 11 unless the discipline suffers a new setback…
