Schmidt Peterson gives news of Robert Wickens

Returning to Indianapolis late last week, Robert Wickens underwent several operations at IU Health Methodist Hospital on his legs and hands, injured in the horrific crash he suffered on August 19 last at Pocono Raceway.

The Canadian will now be transferred to a rehabilitation center in the coming days. According to the press release, it is still too early to determine the severity of the spinal cord injury he suffered, an injury still being evaluated. According to doctors, several weeks – or even months – could be necessary before the definitive consequences are known, which is not without concern.

A list of injuries suffered by Wickens has been published in order to silence the evil tongues which have mentioned a state of little concern:

– Thoracic fracture

– Spinal cord injury

– Neck fracture

– Double tibia/fibula fracture in both legs

– Fractures in both hands

– Fracture of the right forearm

– Elbow fracture

– Four fractured ribs

– Pulmonary contusion

« We would like to thank everyone for the love, prayers and positive energy sent to Robert, underlined the Canadian's family. We are blown away by the strength of this community ofIndyCar and his support. Your messages of love will certainly be a source of encouragement for him. »

And the Sam Schmidt-Ric Peterson duo continues: “ As Robert's recovery continues, we would like to emphasize that #6 is reserved for Robert Wickens and him alone. However long it takes for his full recovery, we will reserve this seat for him. The road to recovery will be long and difficult, but we are counting on all of you to be by our side, to encourage it. »

All AUTO editorial staffhebdo wish Robert Wickens a speedy recovery.
