Scott Dixon tests the Aeroscreen in a simulator

Scott Dixon carried out a simulator test of the cockpit protection system yesterday morning Aeroscreen at the American Research Center in Dallara. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver completed several simulated laps on five different circuits, including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

A test which proved conclusive, Dixon having declared that his visibility was not obstructed: “It was almost similar to Advanced Frontal Protection (AFP) (element added upstream of the cockpit during the year by the American governing bodies, in order to deflect potential debris).

Everything went very well. I think the construction was well done. It is a pride to participate in its development process. »

For his part, the president of theIndyCar, Jay Frye, welcomed the results of this experiment: “This is a milestone in this project, comments the American official. We encountered no problems today, and we will continue our research to progress towards our final goal. »

IndyCar announced at the end of last May the introduction of the Aeroscreen for 2020, a device that Red Bull Advanced Technologies initially developed for F1, before this solution was finally left aside in favor of the famous Halo.
