Watkins Glen wants to return in 2013

The Watkins Glen circuit hosted theIndyCar from 2005 to 2010 but was absent from the 2011 season calendar following a drop in spectator attendance. If the discipline turns more towards road circuits, it will not return in 2012 to the State of New York to compete in an event on the circuit registered in Nascar. Michael Printup would still like to see the American single-seaters on his track again. The president of the circuit confirmed in The Corning Leader that he was in discussions with Randy Bernard, the director of IndyCar, for a possible return to take place in 2013.

“I would love to see IndyCar come back, that’s what the spectators are asking us for”, assures Michael Printup. “I still think it’s a fantastic discipline. If we can accommodate a large enough audience, I suppose we will have to study the financial aspect. There is no doubt in my mind that a weekend where IndyCar is combined with the Nascar Truck Series would be a very good idea. I am aware that we have different types of spectators. Part of them asks me not to do that, but the other part considers that the race is the race and that is why people come. »
