Juan Manuel Correa continues his convalescence. The 20-year-old American, born in Ecuador, suffered ano fracture of both legs and a less serious injury to the spine in the accident having taken the life of Anthoine Hubert in the second round of the Long Race Formula 2 in Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium).
The Sauber Junior Team resident had emergency surgery at the Liège University Hospital a few hours after the pileup, Saturday August 31. Placed in intensive care at the Belgian hospital, Juan Manuel Correa will still be placed in a specialized intensive care unit in Great Britain.
In tribute to Anthoine Hubert, the Charouz team has decided not to replace Juan Manuel Correa at the Monza meeting (Italy, September 6-8). Callum Ilott will be the sole representative of the Swiss team in Italy.
