The new Formula 2 revealed

This afternoon in Monza the news was revealed car which will be used from next season in Formula 2. The Dallara chassis having been used since 2011, it is one of the oldest currently in single-seaters.

The biggest visual change lies in the introduction of the Halo which will also be mandatory in the antechamber of the F1 from 2018. The nose, previously very high, is lowered to provide more aerodynamic downforce to help cars overtake in braking zones. With this in mind, F2 follows GP3 and F3 who had also made this aero change. The shark fin, already present on the car, remains present.

The other significant change is in the engine. Today, Mecachrome supplies a 8L V4 engine. Next year, the engine will be a 6L V3.4 Turbo, still supplied by Mecachrome. This change is a further step towards Formula 1 which made the switch to turbo in 2014.

The tire manufacturer remains Pirelli and has announced that the first rubber tests will be carried out next week with the new car.
