The Renault Sport Academy satisfied with Piastri, a boost in pressure for the other hopefuls

If Cyril Abiteboul is satisfied with the performances of his young talents, this is not the case for Mia Sharizman, who warns Zhou, Lundgaard, Collet and David without too much caution.

The Renault Sport Academy satisfied with Piastri, a boost in pressure for the other hopefuls

As we turn the page on the 2020 season, the Losange is mostly satisfied with the progress of its representatives from the Renault Sports Academy. Each of the five young members experienced “great times” according to Cyril Abiteboul, the general director of Renault Sport Racing.

“In 2020, we welcomed Oscar piastri and Hadrien David, respectively winners of the Formula Renault Eurocup and the French F4 Championship, while retaining Guanyu-Zhou and Christian Lundgaard in Formula 2 and Caio Collet in Formula Renault Eurocup, He explains.

All had great moments, including Oscar winning the FIA Formula 3 as a rookie. Zhou and Christian scored victories in F2, Zhou even becoming the first Chinese driver to win in the category, while Caio achieved success at Imola in the curtain-raiser of the F1."

Mia Sharizman, head of the Renault Sport Academy, however, points out some negative sides, if not disappointments. « We expected better from Zhou and Christian who finished sixth and seventh in F2 despite good performances which led to their victories and podiums.

Caio and Hadrian missed their objective which was the title in their respective categories, but we were able to observe Caio's potential and his development in line with our projections throughout the season.

We know that everyone can do better and they are aware that they will have to be better next year to continue to progress in the Academy. I am convinced that they will succeed. » An implicit way of putting pressure on these young men just before the holidays.
