THEIndyCar plans to install LEDs on the rims of its single-seaters in order to display logos or messages from business partners, race information or other elements. The concept was tested on the car de Sébastien Bourdais during the first practice session of the Sonoma GP (California) which concludes the season this weekend.
“We tested 3 colors in full afternoon light to see how they looked”, commented Guy Margetson, the director of the Speed of Light Media company in charge of the concept.
The discipline has already adopted a display on the cars indicating the position, the time spent in the pits and the activation of “push-to-pass” since the Mid-Ohio race held on August 2.
