Marcus Armstrong joins DAMS

FIA runner-up Formula 3 in 2019, New Zealander Marcus Armstrong had a complicated year last season at ART Grand Prix. Dominated by Christian Lundgaard, the driver from the Ferrari Driver Academy only scored two podiums, acquired during the first two rounds in Austria.

The Kiwi will therefore try to relaunch at DAMS in 2021, in a team which, like him, experienced success before experiencing a more difficult year in 2020, finishing eighth in the team championship. In these conditions, the arrival of the New Zealander within the Le Mans team seems to be good news for both parties, who will try to relaunch together. Armstrong is also the first FDA pilot to evolve with DAMS.

“I am very happy to join DAMS, explained the pilot. This team has a huge history, notably in GP2 and in F2, and this is clearly one of the best teams to play with. They have the resources to give me everything I need.” The Kiwi does not hesitate to be ambitious: “I want to aim for the title in 2021. We discussed it with the team, and it is not in our interest to finish second. We have the same objectives.”
