Porsche has a new factory driver in its team Formula E. Expected for some time, the arrival of António Félix da Costa in the colors of Stuttgart was made official this Monday, August 15.

Involved in the championship car zero-emission since the first race in Beijing in 2014, the 30-year-old Portuguese has competed in 96 events for a record of 7 victories, 16 podiums, and 8 pole positions. And especially the Drivers title with DS Techeetah in 2020.

Winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 category this season, António Félix da Costa is targeting the Hypercar category of WEC and also has two victories at the famous Macau Grand Prix of Formula 3 to his hunting list (2012 and 2016).

Here is therefore a recruit of choice and weight for Porsche as Formula E prepares to introduce a new generation of cars, the Gen3.

« It's a dream come true, enthuses the eclectic António Félix da Costa. I can't wait to start this new chapter and win races for this team. I have faced Porsche many times in my career. I know their commitment and their will to win. It's part of the brand's DNA ».

« I am delighted that António is joining our ranks, specifies Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport. His driving skills are incredible and he has proven that he knows how to win, and not just in Formula E. We have a lot of respect for him as a driver, but also as a human being. It perfectly matches the spirit of the Porsche Motorsport family ».

« We will do everything possible to provide him with a Gen3 car capable of fighting for victory and the title ", concluded Florian Modlinger, head of the Porsche Formula E factory department.

The German manufacturer has posted mixed results in Formula E since its debut in 2019, with only one victory on the clock, signed Pascal Wehrlein in Mexico this season.

The German will play alongside António Félix da Costa next year, while his former teammate André Lotterer will focus on Hypercar, still with Porsche.
