The recent shortage of Red Bull regarding its pool of young drivers has pushed the energy drink to change its approach for 2019. The Junior Team will focus on Japan with two Super Formula wheels for Daniel Ticktum and Lucas Auer.
The double winner of the Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix had already announced its future program in mid-November, following its team in F3 Motopark in Japan. On the other hand, the astonishment is more present when reading the name of Lucas Auer. The 24-year-old Austrian has been raging until now in the German Touring Championship (DTM) On behalf of Mercedes (7th in 2018).
Gerhard Berger's nephew will make common cause with Daniel Ticktum within the B-Max-Motopark team. His last campaign in car dates back to 2014, where he finished fourth in the Formula 3 European Championship.
Red Bull is not completely turning away from Formula 3. Entered a few days before the Macau Grand Prix, the Estonian Jüri Vips will be placed in the new FIA Formula 3 International discipline thanks to a steering wheel at HitechGP.
Organized as part of the Grands Prix of Formula 1, the FIA F3 International will also be the opportunity for the Japanese Yuki tsunoda to make its ranges with the support of the Austrian company. The outgoing Japanese Formula 4 champion will defend the colors of Jenzer Motorsport, while participating in Formula European Masters (formerly FIA F3 Europe) in support of the DTM.
