After winning the 24 Hours of Daytona last January with his brother Jordan, Max Angelelli and Jeff Gordon, Ricky Taylor was offered a test session by Chevrolet and General Motors. IndyCar with Team Penske on the car of simon pagenaud on the Homestead-Miami road circuit (Florida).
“It’s a very different car to adjust, recognized the driver of the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R registered in IMSA. I no longer drove car for 7 or 8 years. There are a lot more signals compared to my usual mount. The downforce generated by this car is incredible. With braking force, no traction control, no driver aids and no power steering, it's very different from what I'm used to driving. »
“Every driver dreams of becoming an IndyCar driver. It can't hurt to be involved with Team Penske. It was a great chance for me to meet the team and ride this machine without having any pressure. Even if it doesn't lead to anything, it's a very nice discovery.", added the 27-year-old Floridian.
Ricky Taylor was able to prepare for his test session by working on a simulator and benefiting from the help of Simon Pagenaud who had previously tuned the car.
“Ricky has clearly proven that he deserves to drive an IndyCar, assured the reigning champion. It’s really nice to be offered a test with Team Penske. It is both a great honor for him and for us. »
