Schumacher completes 3 days of testing

Michael Schumacher, before the start of pre-season testing Formula 1, completed 1151 km of testing at the wheel of a GP2 on the Jerez circuit, a track that he will return to with Mercedes GP (10-13/02 and 17-20/02). Beyond the announced goal of these tests, namely the development of car who will race in the GP2 Series in 2011, the German driver especially wanted to experience physical training with the driving of a car whose performance is close to that of an F1.

« I was able to drive for a long time during this last day and everything worked perfectly, commented Schumacher. I am very happy with how these tests went. I feel in good shape. I felt comfortable as soon as I got in the car. »

The German driver completed 52 laps on Tuesday, 78 laps on Wednesday, and 130 laps on Thursday, as many as the previous two days. There is no doubt that these tests have reassured Michael Schumacher about his state of form, less than three weeks before the start of F1 winter testing.

For the organizers of the GP2 Series, this participation of Michael Schumacher in these development tests above all made it possible to shine the spotlight on Jerez. And Bruno Michel, boss of the discipline, welcomes these three days of testing.

« We are happy that Michael chose our car to experience the thrill of driving a high-performance car, and that he said it was the closest thing to a Formula 1 car., commented Bruno Michel. It was a fantastic opportunity for GP2 and everyone involved in the discipline. Michael Schumacher?s analysis and perspective were incredible and the GP2 technical staff who worked with him this week are convinced that this development test will give us an even better car in 2011. »
