Scott Dixon imperial at the Indianapolis GP

Winner to kick off the season in Texas, Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing – Honda) achieves the double by winning the Indianapolis Grand Prix this Saturday on the infield of the legendary American oval.

The first part of the event was however largely dominated by Will Power (Team Penske – Chevrolet), who started from pole, and was untouchable for the first 35 laps of the race. The Australian, only fitted with soft red tires for his first two stints, was then mainly chased by Jack Harvey (Meyer Shank Racing – Honda) and Josef Newgarden (Team Penske).

The race standings were however upset by the yellow flag coming out on the 36th lap, after rookie Oliver Askew (Arrow) exited the pits at the start of the straight. McLaren SP).

This is then the opportunity for Graham Rahal (Team RLL – Honda) to take the peloton and see the drivers like simon pagenaud (Team Penske) or Scott Dixon, having made their stop just before the neutralization, to gain several positions, while Power and Newgarden plunged to 13th and 14th places.

It was Dixon who took the advantage over Rahal on the 48th lap and then began to widen the gap at the head of the race with his soft tires against Rahal's hard tires. The New Zealander will no longer be worried, while the fight for the podium pits Rahal and Pagenaud in the last relay.

On the same tire (soft), the two rivals fight by tenths, the Frenchman gradually reducing the gap. But Rahal retains second place ahead of the 2019 winner, author of a rise of 17 places in this event. Pagenaud took the opportunity to score his second podium in a row, after his second place in Texas.

The top 5 is completed by Colton Herta (Andretti Harding Steinbrenner – Honda) and Rinus VeeKay (Ed Carpenter Racing – Chevrolet).

Will Power finally finished 20th, after stalling in the pits on lap 57. Bad day for another favorite, Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport – Honda), forced to retire around halfway through the race after losing power on his DW12.
