Andretti Autosport – Honda drivers Ryan Hunter-Reay and Alexander Red enter the top 5. The latter almost lost big in one of the notable incidents of the race, involving the first leader and pole sitter Josef Newgarden (Team Penske).

Rossi tried to overtake Newgarden, himself battling with James Hinchcliffe (SPM). The three drivers then made mistakes, Newgarden and Hinchcliffe finishing against the barriers, while Rossi managed to leave almost immediately without major damage to his DW12.

The French clan was not successful this Sunday since simon pagenaud (Team Penske) was one of the victims of the collective accident on the first lap, before being taken back to the garages. The Indy 500 winner ultimately ranks 17th at 12 laps.

9th at the finish, Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser Sullivan – Honda) was involved in contact with Spencer Pigot (Ed Carpenter Racing – Chevrolet), which ruined the hopes of Ford driver Chip Ganassi Racing at Le Mans.
