Sean Gelael injured in his back and withdrawn this Sunday in Spain

Taken to hospital yesterday after incident with Jack Aitken on the final lap during the inaugural FIA race F2 in Barcelona yesterday, Sean Gelael (DAMS) took examinations which showed a small fracture of a vertebra.

The French team clarified the circumstances of the accident this morning. “Following an incident with Jack Aitken during the final lap of the F2 Main Race in Barcelona, the car of Sean took off before landing heavily, indicates the training led by François Sicard.

The Medical Car was deployed to extract him because he was complaining about his back. He was then transferred, as a precaution, to Barcelona hospital for x-rays and an MRI. Doctors have diagnosed a strain in the D4 vertebra and he will therefore not be able to participate in the Sprint Race this morning.

We do not know at the moment if he will be able to take part in the Spa-Francorchamps meeting from August 28 to 30, but he should not have any after-effects. »

Sean Gelael returned to his hotel in the evening and will observe his convalescence before a potential return. The entire AUTOhebdo editorial team wishes him a speedy recovery.
