Théo Pourchaire wins the main race in Monaco

Theo Pourchaire never ceases to impress. For its second meeting of Formula 2 this season with ART Grand Prix, the Frenchman offered himself a prestigious victory in the streets of Monaco by winning the main race. Like last year in FIA F3, the Habs will therefore only have waited two weekends to open their counter, proof once again of their extraordinary ability to adapt.

After having signed an authoritarian pole on Thursday with almost half a second ahead of the competition, Théo perfectly resisted the very good start of his front row companion Robert Shwartzman (Prema) at the first corner. Behind, the F3 vice-champion did not make the slightest mistake and strove to maintain a fluctuating gap of one to two seconds compared to the Russian. After the start, which had to be negotiated, the passage through the pit lane constituted the other major challenge of the race. But again, Théo and ART Grand Prix did the job.

Robert Shwartzman nevertheless attempted the undercut on the 30th lap, but a recalcitrant gun compromised his strategy, and even forced him to come out behind Oscar piastri (Prema), Dan Ticktum (Carlin) and Felipe Drugovich (UNI-Virtuosi). Result, when Théo Pourchaire went from Soft to Super Soft a lap later, he came out quietly in front of the whole pack, and was only preceded by Guanyu-Zhou (UNI-Virtuosi) which had not yet stopped.

Behind him, when Oscar Piastri locked his wheels on the 34th lap, Dan Ticktum tried to rush into the gap at Rascasse from the outside. But the Australian resisted well and the Briton ended up with his nose facing the rail, giving up before apologizing flatly on the radio. At the front of the race, Théo only had to manage his lead of five seconds over Oscar Piastri, to achieve success in Monaco two years after the victory of the late Anthoine Hubert here in the Principality in a sprint race. . The native of Grasse took advantage of his performance today to climb to third place in the championship.
