Third pole for Yuki Tsunoda

And three for tsunoda ! The protégé of Red Bull established the third pole position of his season in Formula 2. The Japanese driver, at the cost of a final high-flying lap, snatched pole from his teammate Jehan Daruvala by 6 thousandths of a second. A superb result for the Indian driver, who has been struggling since the first round for his big debut in the championship.

The two men will have the leader of the drivers classification in their mirrors Mick Schumacher (Prema), accustomed to thunderous starts. The German set the third fastest time in qualifying, just ahead of his runner-up in the championship, Callum Ilott (UNI-Virtuosi), 4th. Third in the championship, Christian Lundgaard (ART Grand Prix) is 6th, behind Luca Ghiotto (Hitech), who is under investigation for having hindered a competitor at the start of the session.

For his first time behind the wheel of a car MP Motorsport, Giuliano Alesi set the 21st time, while his replacement Jake Hughes (HWA Racelab) signed a promising 15th position. Note the 7th and 10th places of the two locals of the stage, Robert Shwartzman (Prema) and Nikita mazepin (Hitech).
