Wickens repatriated to Indianapolis

News about Robert Wickens (Schmidt Peterson Motorsport) is trickling in. Victim of a terrible accident against the fences of the Pocono route (Pensylvania) on August 19, the Canadian was sent to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest.

Doctors had notably treated the former pilot of DTM for injuries to the right arm, lower limbs as well as the spine. In a final press release published Friday afternoon, almost two weeks after the crash, his team announced he was being repatriated near his home in Indianapolis (Indiana) at IU Health Methodist Hospital.

The 2011 Formula champion Renault 3.5 will continue its processing there, then that he can now speak with his family. A trip to the operating room to re-treat his lower limb injuries is announced, but no word regarding the condition of his spinal cord, while the first assessments reported an injury of indeterminate extent.

The Colombian Carlos Muñoz will replace Robert Wickens for the last two races of the season.
